Men encouraged to combat violence against women in Egypt

A new programme to involve men and boys in combating violence against women in Egypt has been unveiled by the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

According to a United Nations study conducted in 2013, 99% of Egyptian women have experienced some form of sexual harassment.

The initiative, was launched in partnership with the National Council for Women (NCW) and the ministries of justice, interior and foreign affairs.

To find out more, May Yaacoub spoke with Dr Heba Wafa, a local development and gender team leader at UNDP in Egypt.
